about MUssels and muscles

Founded by Lea Köhn in 2021, the young Vienna based label Mussels and Muscles designs sustainable pieces of jewelry made from sterling silver and gold, trying to impart something special in the wearers day-to-day life. Fine lines meet precise minimalism, creating strength and a delicate mood in every object. Having studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich, the creative approach is shaped by using the tension between art and design. 

MATERIAL & MANUFACTURING

In addition to extraordinary design, Mussels and Muscles stands for a sustainable way of life. Each piece is handmade, using recycled and responsibly-sourced materials. Other raw materials like gemstones and pearls are consciously purchased, or taken from no longer worn pieces of jewelry. I work with responsible manufacturing partners and suppliers. The pieces are produced locally, which I value, because supporting the community is important to me. 

Next to achieving the highest quality possible, transparency throughout the whole process is an important aspect for me. Every single handmade piece of jewelry is supposed to have an emotional value for its wearer. This is only possible by wearing it with a clear conscience. 

I consider the local producers and suppliers I work with to be the best there are, because of their ethical and high quality standards.
